Students can expect in their first semester a very hands-on, creative experience. As a first year student in the Sidhu School of Business, you get to start your own business. I realized that it's not easy to own your own business, it is very difficult. And there's a lot of different components that come together to make a successful business.
The personal and professional development program-- that provides four, one credit classes that are designed to be taken each year of your undergrad and they help you develop things from your resume to your online portfolio. And it really just gives Sidhu School students kind of that edge when they're going into the job market.
I actually have had the opportunity to participate in an internship. It allowed me to perform these skills and see what it really means, not only to have it on paper, but to perform it every day. Some resources that I have as a business student is the nine Bloomberg terminals in the Cardell Financial Center. It is very useful, especially for the finance students as well as people in the finance club.
The Kirby Center is a resource on campus that allows students and community members to launch and run their businesses. It enhances the entrepreneurial spirit at Wilkes University by fostering and mentoring entrepreneurs. And it also links the university to all of the great resources we have in downtown Wilkes-Barre.
My experience in the business school has been tremendous. I really had no issues with either professors or workload or anything like that.
Wilkes is a small school with a close knit community that still has big opportunities.

Los estudiantes pueden esperar en su primer semestre, una experiencia muy práctica y creativa. Como estudiante de primer año en la Escuela de Negocios Sidhu, puedes empezar tu propio negocio. Me di cuenta que no es fácil tener tu propio negocio, es muy difícil, y hay un montón de distintos componentes qué hay que unir para que un negocio sea exitoso.
El programa de desarrollo profesional y personal-- cuenta con cuatro clases, de un crédito, que están diseñadas para cursarlas cada año de tu carrera y que te ayudarán a mejorar cosas, desde tu currículum hasta tu portafolio en línea. Y realmente le da a los estudiantes de la escuela Sidhu esa diferencia cuando se insertan en el mercado laboral.
De hecho tuve una oportunidad de participar en una pasantía. Me permitió desarrollar esas habilidades y ver lo que significa realmente, no solamente verlo en papel, sino ponerlo en práctica cada día. Algunos recursos que tengo como estudiante de negocios es el acceso a las nueve terminales de Bloomberg en el Centro Financiero Cardell. Es muy útil, especialmente para los estudiantes de finanzas así como para la gente en el club financiero.
El Centro Kirby es un recurso en el campus que le permite a los estudiantes y a los miembros de la comunidad lanzar y dirigir sus negocios. Realza el espíritu empresarial en la Universidad Wilkes promoviendo y orientando a los emprendedores. Y también conecta a la universidad con todos los grandes recursos que tenemos en Wilkes-Barre.
Mi experiencia en la escuela de negocios ha sido extraordinaria. Nunca tuve problemas con los profesores o la carga de trabajo ni nada de este estilo.
