I chose to study nursing here at Wilkes because of its fantastic program. It's very hands-on experience as early as your sophomore year. You practice underneath a licensed nurse, so you're able to interact in the hospital with patients and get that real-world experience.
And then their senior year, they have the opportunity to put all those things together where they are immersed in clinical areas, emergency room and the ICU, where they are able to put all the things that they've learned previously into the care of a complex patient.
One great resource here at Wilkes University is our simulation center. We're able to go down and practice real-life experience without being necessarily in a hospital, making it more accessible to students. We're equipped with the necessary materials, including mannequins, blood pressure cuffs, oxygen just so we're able to provide that care.
We have several different ways to obtain a degree. We have an accelerated bachelor's program where students can become an RN in one year. Students also could enter the graduate program. There is a DNP, a Doctorate of Nursing Program, and a PhD program as well. So we have all levels of education within our school.
The job placement rate here for Wilkes University nursing students is nearly 100%. And for me as a student, that puts me at peace of mind knowing that at the end of my education, I'll have a job guaranteed for me.
